My interpretation of the handshaking between a barcode reader and a PLC (mini computer) on a serial bus when the reader wants to send more info than the PLC can handle. This is in a manual i'm writing for the barcode system i've been working on.
Rx Rqt=1 Reader: I want to send you some info
Rx Ack=1 PLC: Send it over
(Data Transfer)
Rx Rqt=2 Reader: I have some more for you
Rx Ack=1 PLC: I’m not ready for it yet
Rx Rqt=2 Reader: Awwww, come on
Rx Ack=1 PLC: Wait a minute
Rx Rqt=2 Reader: Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease
Rx Ack=1 PLC: I told you, no
Rx Rqt=2 Reader: I’ll be your best friend
Rx Ack=1 PLC: I already have a best friend
Tx Rqt=1 PLC: Okay, I’m done with that part
Tx Ack=1 Reader: Well you took long enough
(data transfer)
Rx Rqt=2 Reader: Can I send over the new stuff yet?
Rx Ack=2 PLC: Yes, now you can
(data transfer)
Tx Rqt=2 PLC: Does that best friend offer still stand?
Tx Ack=2 Reader: No, you’re mean.
(data transfer)
